The Shia militia loyal to Iraq’s leading radical Shia cleric, Hojatoleslam Moqtada al-Sadr several years ago numbered about 600 followers. Many believed the rotund cleric should have been taken out early in the Iraq war, but due to the infinite wisdom of (either) our commanders on the ground or in washington or both, that never happened. Well just like a cancer the tumor has grown and is now over 20,000 strong.
al-Sadr, believed to be a puppet of Iran now controls 2 seats in the current Iraqi government and is believed to be responsible (at least in part) for what is now percieved to be a “civil war”.
An easy job just got harder.
