Michael Chertoff (head of homeland security) is trying to give us an ultimatum. Legalize the illegals or we’ll just give them silent amnesty.
How about get rid of the illegals or we stop paying taxes?
McLEAN, Va. — Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said Wednesday that Republican conservatives working to block an immigration bill risk endorsing a “silent amnesty” by insisting on deportations that are “not going to happen.”
What the hell is that all about? Are we selectively enforcing/not enforcing the law?
This rhetoric coming from a government worker that is effectively telling us “hey, do it our way or screw you!”
What would you do if you went to the grocery store, shopped for your food, paid for the goods and the baggers just put the food back on the shelves?
Well this is what the feds are trying to pull. We’ve paid for the goods, in this case secure borders and deportation of illegal aliens, but they are just keeping the money and doing nothing.
The position of Homeland Security Secretary does not make him God or the last word as to who stays and who goes, or especially, what laws he is going to enforce! It does make him a public servant who has to answer to the public or lose the job.
Mr. Chertoff, it is not your job to tell us how removing the illegals will not work, it is your job to make it work!
If you can’t do the job, then you should quit, and if you won’t quit, you should be fired!

I watched Chertoff on television last night. I completly agree with you. I could not believe what he was saying. Basically, he says we cannot get rid of the illegals. It is impossible to round them up and deport them. It is sccary to hear the head of homeland security say that he cannot do his job. Admitting that you cannot do your job deserves to be fired. People called into the show and suggested using the census takers to Identify them. Remember the census taker ? well, Chertoff does not think that that is a good idea. So, the question begs . why was Hitler able to round up and deport 6 million people nearly 80 years ago when the main means of transportaion was a horse and buggy but we cannot do it today? Oh, by the way, Hitler’s Germany used an IBM subsidiary’s computers to first take the census and Identify people by race and religion and then used the lists to round them up. Maybe Bush and Chertoff should contact IBM and ask for their assistance again? I smell a business opportunity. Bush and Chertoff could then, through IBM, outsource the work to India.
