GLYNCO, Ga., May 29 — President Bush today accused opponents of his proposed immigration measure of fear-mongering to defeat it in Congress, and took on his own conservative political base as he did so.
“If you want to scare the American people, what you say is the bill’s an amnesty bill,†Mr. Bush said this afternoon at a training center for border enforcement agents located in this town in Georgia’s southeastern corner. “That’s empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our citizens.â€
With all due respect Mr. President, that’s a bunch of crap!
“If you want to kill the bill, if you don’t want to do what’s right for America, you can pick out one little aspect out of it,” … “You can use it to frighten people.
The problem is Mr. President, there are so many “little aspects” of the bill that it makes it unacceptable.
Let’s face it, under this atrocity called the immigration bill, if the illegals want citizenship, they get fined and go back and forth across the border and play the game. If they don’t want citizenship, they do nothing and it’s status quo, they get an infinitely renewable visa. If this isn’t amnesty, I must be confused.
The bill also mandates immigration officers must assist illegals when caught to be given visas as soon as possible. What the hell is that?
Additionally, there are many law abiding people that have been working hard to achieve citizenship for years, they should be outraged because these illegals are just moving right up to the front of the line. No matter how many times these globalists say “no they aren’t” , it doesn’t change the reality.
The only provisions this immigration bill should have is building the fences (north and south) stopping the influx of illegals, deporting the illegals that are here, and arresting employers that hire illegals. Once the immigration problem is under control, then we can begin to discuss other “comprehensive” measures, but not in this bill, and not until the borders are under control. First things first.
