Is Rudy Giuliani a corrupt New York politician or just dumb?
I’ve said for a long time now, I personally don’t want a country that resembles New York, [ESPECIALLY] New York City. So with that said, I’m not voting for Rudy. I personally think he’s corrupt. Like they say, you can’t sleep with pigs without getting dirty.
Well apparently, Rudy want’s to repeal that pesky law that keeps public corporations in line, Sarbanes-Oxley, he also wants to give more of America away by “advancing free trade” not fair trade.
From Rudy’s Blog:
Aggressively Advance Free Trade: Rudy will tear down the walls to free trade and create new markets for American-made products. He will protect America’s innovations and intellectual property by enforcing our trade agreements aggressively.
* Reduce corporate tax rates and regulatory burden so that Americans can better compete in the global economy.
* Reform the excesses of Sarbanes-Oxley that are driving our corporations overseas to list on foreign exchanges.
* Reenact the Presidential Fast-Track Trade Promotion Authority and complete the Doha Development Round.
What excesses are there in a law? Oh… he must mean it’s such a pain to maintain a single set of books… That must be it.
NOTE: The approach that SOX has sent companies from New York to London, is reasonably covered by providing a higher tariff on goods and services provided by off-shore companies (which should be in place anyway). What ever item or subset of the item is created off-shore, should be taxed by the amount it would cost to create the same item here plus 20%. We can make it cheaper to operate in the US.
The Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (Pub. L. No. 107-204, 116 Stat. 745), also known as the Public Company Accounting Reform and Investor Protection Act of 2002 and commonly called SOX or Sarbox; is a United States federal law enacted on July 30, 2002 in response to a number of major corporate and accounting scandals including those affecting Enron, Tyco International, Adelphia, Peregrine Systems and WorldCom. These scandals, which cost investors billions of dollars when the share prices of the affected companies collapsed, shook public confidence in the nation’s securities markets. Named after sponsors Senator Paul Sarbanes (D-MD) and Representative Michael G. Oxley (R-OH), the Act was approved by the House by a vote of 423-3 and by the Senate 99-0. President George W. Bush signed it into law, stating it included “the most far-reaching reforms of American business practices since the time of Franklin D. Roosevelt.” [1]
He also wants to extend the influence of the WTO over America (which is what the Doha Development Agenda is about). The Doha Agenda
IN A TIME WHERE MORE ENGINEERS AND TECHNICALLY TRAINED AMERICANS ARE WORKING FOR HOME DEPOT AND LOWES THEN THERE ARE AT IBM, RUDY WANTS TO FURTHER EXPAND THE H1B VISA PROGRAM TO PUT EVEN MORE TECHNICALLY TRAINED AMERICANS OUT OF WORK.
From Rudy’s blog
Strengthen America’s 21st Century Workforce: Education is power in an information economy. American workers must be the best trained and prepared workforce in the world in order to successfully compete in the global economy.
* Promote science and mathematics through technical certification or an associate degree.
* Advance successful training programs leading to competitive skills the market demands.
* Allow early withdrawal from retirement accounts for qualified retraining programs.
* Expand the number of H1B Visas for skilled foreign workers to meet market demand.
So what is he saying here, does America need more “American Taxi Drivers”, so let’s put them out of high paying jobs so more of them have to drive taxis (because all the Home Depot jobs will be taken) and we can finally speak to an english speaking cab driver? Now that’s life in the big city.
I think Rudy is more a democrat than Hillary is.
I’m still not sure who would be the best president, but two things I’m sure of, 1) None of the democrat candidates are looking out for me, and 2) It certainly wouldn’t be Rudy.
