T. Boone Pickens, according to wikipedia:

Thomas Boone Pickens, Jr. (born May 22, 1928 in Holdenville, Oklahoma), known as T. Boone Pickens, is an American financier who chairs the hedge fund BP Capital Management. He was a well-known takeover operator during the 1980s. His takeovers put many independent oil producers out of business. With an estimated current[update] net worth of about $3 billion, he is ranked by Forbes as the 117th-richest person in America and ranked 369th in the world.

Well it looks like the big wind farm project has run out of energy, with T. Boone canning the ambition to build the Texas panhandle wind farm, and is now looking for some place else to put the turbines.

In recent years, wind turbines have been growing less popular as a vialble option to replace current energy generation, and a growing number of people not wanting those things in their back yard has made it difficult to move forward with wind projects.

So I can’t help but wonder, how long will it be before T. Boone, comes waltzing up to congress with his hand out for help to defray the cost of unused wind turbines, assuming the new home he finds for them is not the dump.

Texas oil billionaire T. Boone Pickens has called off plans to build the world’s biggest wind farm in the Texas Panhandle, The Wall Street Journal said.

Pickens said the wind farm project was scuttled partly because of the lack of adequate transmission lines to carry the electricity from remote locations to cities, according to the paper.

The oil tycoon had hoped to build new transmission lines but could not secure financing, the paper said.

Pickens plans to find new homes for the turbines that he already agreed to buy, the paper said, citing a statement.

Pickens could not immediately be reached for comment by Reuters.
